FAQ
What is demi-fine jewellery?
At Graedance, demi-fine jewellery is the meeting point of thoughtful design and enduring quality. Crafted from precious metals such as sterling silver and 18k gold vermeil, it offers the refinement and durability found in fine jewellery, while remaining more accessible.
Positioned between fine and costume jewellery, demi-fine balances craftsmanship with innovation. It allows for creative freedom — combining contemporary forms, adaptable elements, and symbolic details — without compromising on material integrity.
At its core, demi-fine is designed to be versatile and timeless. Whether worn daily or passed on, these pieces are built to retain their beauty and relevance, reflecting a modern approach to wear, utility, and artistry.
What is your jewellery made out of?
Most of our pieces are 925 silver or are high-quality rhodium plated. Where we are able, we utilise recycled silver to create the pieces, facilitating less chemicals and natural resources in the creation of the jewellery. Our silver pieces are also not plated, which means they have a strong natural shine to them and are more considerate of the environment.
We also use 18K gold vermeil for our warm toned pieces, which is a thick layer of gold melded upon sterling silver.
How do I take care of my Graedance piece?
To maintain your piece's appearance over time, please follow the instructions provided on your care card.
_____
Silver
_____
For sterling silver pieces, your natural body oils will assist in maintaining the appearance of these pieces, so frequent wear can prevent tarnishing over time.
If tarnishing is present, use the care clothe provided or other silver polishing clothes to gently wipe and renew the shine of the silver.
______________
Rhodium-Plated
______________
Rhodium is a rare and valuable metal, known for it's resistance to tarnishing - thus we've chosen it as precious metal coat for our brass pieces. For optimal care, please:
1. Avoid exposing your jewellery to harsh chemicals, such as bleach and ammonia, as these can damage the rhodium plating. This includes perfumes, oils and toileteries.
2. Avoid humid environments and remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing, or engaging in activities that could cause it to come into contact with water or other liquids.
A regular clean with the cloth provided to remove dirt and oils will also extend the life of your rhodium-plated pieces.
______________
Gold
______________
Our 18k gold pieces are crafted with a thick layer of gold over sterling silver. To preserve their golden hue:
1. Store individually in a dry space, away from sunlight and humidity.
2. Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces or chemicals that may erode the gold layer.
3. After wearing, gently wipe with a soft cloth to maintain their sheen over time.
______________
Gemstones
______________
Admire the natural differences in gemstones in your pieces. For care:
1. Avoid exposing gemstones to water, extreme temperatures, or chemical agents.
2. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh cloths—use only soft, lint-free cloths for gentle cleaning.
3. Store away from other jewelry to prevent scratching, preserving both the stone and its setting.
What ring size am I?
If you're unsure on what size to take, please go to the size guide. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our team via email.
What is adaptable sizing?
Most of our rings are designed with adaptable sizing (marked on the description), which means we utilise the softness of silver to allow for the wearer to make light manual adjustment of the base. This means you're able to wear your piece across multiple fingers and across the length of the finger (such as the base or tip). When making adjustments, please be gentle as forceful impact can break or damage the ring.
What currency will I be billed in?
Please select your delivery country and preferred billing currency in the drop-down box at the bottom of the page. If your country is not listed, please leave it as the default country, Australia.
If your question isn't listed, don't hesitate to email team@graedance.com.
